We’ve been talking about estate plans. Everyone needs an estate plan, but if you meet any of these “red flag” descriptions, you especially need to arrange an estate plan to protect yourself and your loved ones:
- if you have minor children
- if you are recently married, divorced or separated
- if you have children or family members with special needs (i.e. disability)
- if you are in a second marriage, with children from your first marriage
- if any medical disabilities or conditions run in your family
- if you have children or a spouse who relies on your income or care taking to survive
- if you are in a committed same-sex relationship in a jurisdiction that does not recognize same-sex marriage
Does this describe you? In that case, you especially need an estate plan in place as a routine matter. Write it on your calendar today, for peace of mind. Estate planning video here.
